About Tiba Espresso
A little piece of Curitiba, brewed with love in Adelaide CBD.
Tiba. A little piece of Curitiba in Adelaide.
The name says it all. Tiba Espresso is Niel’s love letter to Curitiba, the vibrant Brazilian city where he grew up, and the place that shaped who he is. When it came time to name his café, there was only ever one choice. Hidden inside the name is home.
Niel arrived in Australia in 2016 and fell in love with Adelaide almost immediately. He made it his permanent home in 2018 and hasn’t looked back since. His journey in hospitality started behind the espresso machine, learning the craft of specialty coffee as a barista. That passion for quality led him to take the next step, completing a full chef’s training and building his career in kitchens across Adelaide’s café scene. After years of working for others, and quietly dreaming of something of his own. Niel took the leap 19 months ago and opened Tiba Espresso on Flinders Street in the heart of the CBD, the neighbourhood he calls home.

A café with soul, right in the heart of Adelaide CBD
Flinders Street wasn’t a business decision — it was a personal one. Niel lives in the CBD with his partner Ben, and he wanted to create something for his neighbourhood. A place where the coffee is taken seriously, the food is made with a chef’s care, and everyone who walks through the door feels genuinely welcome. That’s Tiba. And we’re just getting started.

The person behind Tiba
Niel is a Brazilian-born chef who came to Australia chasing a new adventure and found a home. He trained as a barista first, then went on to complete a full chef’s qualification, working in kitchens across Adelaide before opening Tiba on Flinders Street 19 months ago. The CBD was a natural choice. Niel lives just around the corner with his partner Ben, and he wanted to build something for the neighbourhood he loves. Tiba is the result, a café that carries a piece of his hometown Curitiba in its name and a lot of heart in everything it serves.
